Robby is urgently looking for his forever home and we are asking for your help to find it.
Meet Robby 💙 (#A5690647).
When Robby first arrived at the Agoura Animal Care Center, he was diagnosed with Megaesophagus (ME), a lifelong condition that affects how food moves from the mouth to the stomach. Dogs with ME rely on gravity to eat safely, which means consistent routines and proper positioning are essential. Unfortunately, this level of care cannot be safely managed in a shelter environment.
Recognizing this, Healthcare for Homeless Animals (HHA) stepped in immediately. In alignment with our mission to ensure that vulnerable animals receive lifesaving medical care and real second chances, HHA funded Robby’s diagnostics, specialist evaluations, medications, and ongoing treatment. Just as importantly, HHA placed Robby into a dedicated foster home where he could safely learn how to live with and manage his condition.
Robby has now been with the Agoura Animal Care Center and under HHA’s care for many months. Many of you already recognize his name, which speaks to how long he has been part of our community. Throughout this time, HHA has continued to fund his medical care, medications, specialist follow ups, and foster placement, ensuring he remained stable, supported, and safe while waiting for the right home.
In foster care, Robby did more than recover. He thrived.
Thanks to the incredible dedication of his foster, Lisa, Robby learned a consistent daily routine that allows him to live a full, happy life. He eats upright in a Bailey chair, drinks water safely by eating ice cubes, and follows his feeding schedule with ease. Lisa has worked tirelessly to set Robby up for long term success, helping him build confidence, structure, and healthy habits.
Watching Robby walk to his chair, climb in, and calmly complete his meals has captured the hearts of everyone who has met him.
The Bailey chair itself carries a special story. It is named after a dog who lived with Megaesophagus more than 25 years ago, and today, the woman who designed that original chair is personally involved in Robby’s life. She remains available to help guide Robby’s future family, creating a rare and meaningful full circle moment in his journey.
Medically, Robby is doing incredibly well. His most recent visit with an internal medicine specialist showed excellent lab work and improvement in his condition.
Beyond his medical success, Robby is a joyful, playful adolescent German Shepherd. He is energetic, affectionate, and fun loving. He does beautifully with other dogs, is gentle and patient with children, and adores people. Robby has had professional training and continues to learn boundaries and manners, just like any growing young dog. He needs a dedicated adopter willing to continue his routine, training, and care so he can keep thriving.
Robby’s journey has been made possible through the combined efforts of HHA, his extraordinary foster, and the generosity of 1510 Foundation and WeRateDogs, whose support helped fund critical medical care and bring visibility to his story. Together, this community helped save Robby’s life and set him up for long term success.
Robby also has a strong support system in place for his future family. HHA and 1510 have established a fund to help support his ongoing medication costs, his foster will assist with a smooth transition, and the original Bailey chair designer remains available to support his adopter every step of the way.
What Robby needs now is a HOME.
He needs someone willing to commit to the routine already in place and help him continue growing into the confident, happy dog he is meant to be. In return, Robby offers loyalty, laughter, playfulness, and a deep bond with his people.
If you are interested in adopting Robby or know someone who might be, please reach out or share his story. He has waited a long time for his family, and we believe they are out there.
